Think we'll be spending at least part of the evening at One-Eyed Jacks on Thursday. Not only do they have the Hives, but it's 80s night! LOL

For anyone staying Monday night (not me I'm afraid) The Cult is playing at House of Blues.
The Dungeon in the French Quarter is having a Halloween party pn Saturday. The catch is you have to E-mail them at halloween@originaldungeon.com with INVITATION REQUEST in the subject line. Each guest must e-mail and get an invitation. Invitations will be honored until they reach capacity.
One Eyed Jack's has Quintron on Friday and Dax Riggs on Saturday.

Since forming in early 2005, the magnetic Asheville, NC based instrumental quintet has been credited with bridging the gap between West African and American music unlike any group before them, quickly winning a diverse and devoted following at top venues such as the Bonnaroo and Vegoose festivals to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Their live shows and self-titled debut album have won international acclaim from the New York Times, Global Rhythm, fRoots, NPR and more. The band kicked off 2007 in Essakane, Mali, where they played the legendary Festival of the Desert, known as the most remote festival in the world. They've toured the U.S. extensively since then, playing at the Langerado , SxSW, Wakarusa, High Sierra, and 10,000 Lakes festivals. I emailed the dungeon, just in case....just got a confirmation for 4 invites....so we've got that covered for 4 peeps if any of us want to do THAT for Sat night....I'll print that out and bring it along....costumes Highly Encouraged they say....costume contest....HEE! ALSO...just got a press release from Sony Playstation....they are sponsoring a free SPOON concert on Sat night!!!! VIP...free bar....have to look to see where it is at....I just RSVP'd to try and make sure to get my name on the list...I'll see if I can get some additional invites to that.....keep you all posted..... EDIT: Spoon is going to be at One Eyed Jacks....looks like anyone can attend for a $20 donation to the Children's Hospital Fund.....VIPS get free drinks from 12-2 and free play of playstation games ....but that's the only perk for "getting on the list" other than gurantee of entry..... This is going to be FREAKING AWESOME!!!!! ;D  |

I'm pretty excited too. I just wish I had more time to spend in town. I grew up there and NEVER seem to get back other than for family events. The stars are aligning for a great weekend.

Looks like 1IJ's the place to be most of the weekend (for me, at least). The Dungeon does sound interesting, however... used to love hangin' with the (old-school 80's) Goths back in the day....
