We are thinking of staying there this year, esp if we can get the gov't rate ~ 99.00. Would be great to have a place to gather and keep the beer cold! LOL

I think Spooky stayed here last year. You could ask him about it. Sounds like a good price and a good location to me though...

So we decided on the Marriott instead. Stayed there last year as well. It's super convenient to the street car as well as the quarter.

Hello, I am a transplant from the inforoo board and was happy to see a voodoo board.
I know this isn't exactly the right thread to put this in, but it kinda looks like the only one getting any action and I just had some easy questions for a voodoo noob.
What is the easiest way to get to the festival grounds? I saw a mention of the street car. When I went to Jazz Fest in 2001 there were school busses leaving the quarter for about 5 or 10 bucks per person, does that still happen?
Also on a hotel/festival days, is friday a pretty full day? and what about sunday? Mainly do I need a room thurs - sun or what's the deal. I've stayed in the St. Marie a few times and their rooms are booking for 135 avg a night and they are a block off bourbon.
Thanks for the help, and happy to see some familiar faces over here too.

The easiest way to get to City Park is on the street car. It runs up Canal Street and drops you off right at the entrance to the park. I think it was 1.50 each way. It will be running extended hours and will get you there and back. Super fun, too. The Marriott is running a Voodoo special for 125 a night, if you book though the website. It's quite a nice hotel and the streetcar stops right in front. Friday last year began in the evening, I think. And Sunday was over fairly early, maybe around 10? I know we went to dinner afterwards. caveat: My memory isn't so good after a day of beer & corn and Jah only knows where my program from last year might be.....
