Woot! I figured it would be easier to ask my questions here than on inforoo. Pardon my inexperience; if these questions seem naive, I apologize....
First round of questions: - How much money should I expect to spend? I was thinking $300 should cover food/drinks/souvenirs, but then again, that may be too much. - What's the food selection like at the festival? Just regular festy food? - What kind of temperatures can we expect in NO in October? - Are there water stations to fill up a hydration pack?
This is also my first visit to New Orleans, so I'm super excited about the whole experience ;D Bring on the advice, tips and suggestions!

LOL - Voodoo is very different from Bonnaroo
I'll let some of the Voodoo regulars try to answer your questions
the one I can answer is money - it depends on how much alcohol you plan to drink.
Also - the food in NOLA can get expensive - best bet if you want a meal-meal is to do lunch not dinner - dinner can be expensive

Money - as Meg said, mostly depends upon how much alcohol... plus the level of dining goes from $6.00 Po'Boys to $$$$$ Restaurants... I'd say $300 is probably not too much/doable, but also possibly not enough... I think I spent like at least $500 last year? ...BUT, that said... everytime I dissappear, I tend to return with ARMLOADS of BEER! Food selection outside of fest = FREAKIN' AWESOME Food selection inside of fest = Meh... yeah, it's festy food... it'll sustain you, but it's limited, Bonnaroo has a MUCH better selection, IMO Temps- Last year it was one week earlier and it was very Sunny and in the low to mid 80's in the afternoon, low 70's at night On the Monday right after the fest it suddenly dropped 20 degrees and got really windy I got this from AccuWeather.com if it helps October Normal High: 80°F Normal Low: 60°F Normal Average: 70°F November Normal High: 71°F Normal Low: 52°F Normal Average: 61°F As far as water stations, I didn't have a hydration pack and so I didn't notice water stations, or look for them, but that doesn't mean that they weren't there... Hope that helps

Looks like everyone covered your questions pretty well, I just wanted to add about money in the fest itself. The security is very nice there and they move you through the line extremely quickly, they are looking for basically nuclear weapons and machine guns. A well packed bag normally got a look inside and a squeeze to make sure there was nothing dangerous. The temperatures were very cool last year so we loaded up some beers in coozies, and had some flasks to mix with the lemonade's we bought there. You can be stumbling drunk by the time you leave there, if you chose to be, and only spend a handful of cash.
Once you get to bourbon street beers and drinks are expensive in the bars, but unlike most other cities there are NO cover charges and almost everyplace you go has live music, so remember that you are getting a thirst quencher and entertainment for the $5 beer you just bought. But if you did everything right at the festival then you probably won't need to play too much catchup on bourbon street.
